MEET YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
So here’s a little more info – if you’re looking to get to know me better…
PHOTOGRAPHY
I fell in love with photography through National Geographic, as a small kid. I’ve had a camera in my hand ever since. If I had my dream job, I would be a photographer for Nat Geo! To me, photography is magical. It transports you through space and time. It’s also revealing, allowing people to see things from another perspective or even into someone’s heart.
My style of photography is more of a documentary/photojournalistic style. I like to capture people as they really are. I like for families to see their true selves in a portrait. I like for seniors to see that they have all the confidence they need to conquer the world. I like to capture everyday life and turn it into a work of art. Photography isn’t a luxury, it’s vital to our legacy.
FAMILY
This business is not a one-woman show! I have five kids, so this is a family business. When I shoot a session, chances are one of my kids will be with me as my assistant. My kids have grown up with photography. When your mom is a professional photographer, you tend to get your picture taken – a lot… ;) It has also sparked a desire of entrepreneurship inside my children, with half wanting to start their own photography business and half looking to start other businesses. Having my own business allows me to be the flexible, super-involved, crazy-busy mom I need and want to be. Family is everything to me.
EDUCATION
I never wanted to be an educator when I was growing up. School for the rest of your life – no thanks!! But, it turns out that is a huge part of who I am. I have homeschooled my kids from the very beginning. I have taught Sunday School for too many years to count. I teach Aerospace Education at Civil Air Patrol. And, I teach photography, both locally and online. I’m also a forever learner. Education is something I’m passionate about, and I’m really glad that I’m able to partner it with my other passion of photography!
FAITH
Something that strongly contributes in defining who I am is my faith. I grew up in church. I became a born-again Christian at a very early age. I dedicated my life to the Lord as a teenager. Attending and serving in church is a priority for me and my family. And, I do my best to live my life and conduct my business how Christ would have me to.
